My name is Martin Schwill.
I am an email infrastructure and deliverability expert with over 10 years of experience architecting and optimizing high-volume, high-performance messaging systems that reach the inbox.

Over the years in the industry, I worked for several European and American Email Sending Providers (ESP) and individual senders and companies that relied on email as one of their core functionalities.

My deep technical proficiency includes SMTP protocols and leading MTA platforms such as PowerMTA, Halon, and KumoMTA. I have a proven track record of driving authentication and compliance initiatives (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) and enhancing strategic inbox placement to significantly impact business-critical KPIs.

With a strong Site Reliability Engineering mindset, I bridge infrastructure reliability with inbox performance through extensive expertise in reputation monitoring, feedback loop integration, blacklist remediation, ISP relations, and scalable automation using Python, C#, Ruby, Lua, and MySQL. I'm skilled in infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and observability tooling (Grafana, Kibana, Clickhouse).
I'm equally effective working independently in remote, fast-paced, and cross-functional environments. My hands-on experience with SaaS-based email platforms and solid understanding of global email privacy regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, CASL) ensure that my deliverability strategies align with evolving compliance standards.

I pride myself on strong communication skills, mentoring abilities, and documentation excellence. Trusted to lead initiatives, influence stakeholders, and elevate engineering practices, I excel in fostering cross-team cooperation.
In my past projects, I was responsible for manually designing and maintaining server infrastructures, including large MTA systems, and using infrastructure as code tools like Terraform.
I led migration projects (e.g., PowerMTA to Halon, PowerMTA to KumoMTA) and was involved in designing, developing, and maintaining robust email infrastructures.
I also write my software — as a freelancer, for employers, and for personal projects — developing tools and systems tailored to real-world needs.
In addition, I have strong skills in team management and technical writing, producing clear, human-readable documentation and articles.
I am into learning new technologies and deepening expertise in the ones I already know.
Beyond technology, I am passionate about psychology, music, data-driven approaches, and creative thinking.
